Winslow, Buckinghamshire

Buckingham's train set, delivered to the wrong town·Buckinghamshire·South East England

Winslow is a town that keeps having things done to it by Act of Parliament. In 1742 one rerouted the Buckingham turnpike straight down the middle of it, which is why the high street doubles as the main road to Aylesbury and every chat outside the shops happens over a passing engine. Decades after the railway left, a new station has gone up on the western edge for a line to Oxford and Milton Keynes, so Buckingham, the bigger town up the road, gets to watch the trains stop at Winslow instead. Everyone who bought here has a private theory about what that does to their house price, and none of them has ever revised the number down.
