Woburn Sands

Woburn Sands was called Hogsty End until a Victorian schoolmaster worked out that nobody would send a child to the Hogsty End Academy, so he helped himself to the name of the village with the stately home down the road. The county border wanders through the middle so carelessly that two police forces share the patch, and every child in town crosses into Aspley Guise for the lower and middle schools. Officially it is part of the Milton Keynes urban area, a detail that comes up about as often as the pigs. Every estate agent selling here owes that schoolmaster a drink.
