Cookie policy

We use as few cookies as we can. Here is each one and what it does.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. Some are essential for the site to work, and others are optional and set only with your permission. The same rules cover similar technologies, like the session storage your browser clears when you close the tab, so anything we keep on your device is listed below whether it is technically a cookie or not.
Preferences we remember
These two remember a choice you made while looking around. Neither holds personal data, and neither can be used to identify you or follow you anywhere else.
- Which regions you opened on the places list, so they are still open when you come back to it. Written only at the moment you open or close one, and it stores nothing but a list of region identifiers. Kept for up to a year. A cookie, named
bib_open_regions. - Where you had moved the map to, so coming back from a place page returns you to the same view rather than the whole country. It stores four numbers describing the visible rectangle, never leaves your browser, and is erased the moment you close the tab. Session storage rather than a cookie, named
bib_map_view.
Optional cookies
We do not use any optional cookies: no analytics cookies and no advertising cookies. If that ever changes, each one will be listed here and set only after you have agreed to it.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block them, the site still works; we will just forget which regions you had expanded and where you had moved the map.
