We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we want to know, and we fix it.
What is worth telling us
- A figure that does not match its source, or a source that has since been updated.
- Something that was true when we checked and is not any more, such as a school rating, a flood scheme or a station that has closed.
- A description of a place that the people who live there would not recognise.
How to tell us
Email hello@beforeibuy.co.uk with the place, the question, what looks wrong and, if you have one, a link to the source that shows it. Every answer lists its main sources, and where our data comes from explains each one.
What we do
- We check what you have sent against the source data.
- Anything that could change someone’s decision, such as a flood, safety or school figure, goes to the front of the queue.
- If we got it wrong, we correct the answer and republish the page. Every answer shows the date it was last verified.
- If the answer matches its source but the source itself looks wrong, we tell you, and point you to the publisher who can fix it.
- If we think the page is right, we explain why.
What we do not change
We correct facts, not tone. An answer that is accurate but unflattering about a place stays as it is. Being honest about places is the point of the site.
