Iwade

Commuter estate still insisting it's a village·Kent·South East England

Iwade is a medieval village that lost an argument with a housebuilder and now lives quietly inside the estate that won. The oldest thing here is a prehistoric henge, and it was only found because someone was digging foundations for another cul-de-sac. The main road was moved out of the village years ago, and anyone with a car has been following it ever since. It is a Sittingbourne postcode with a village sign, and the people who bought here know exactly which of the two they were paying for.
