Sheerness
Sheerness is where the A249 and the railway give up, because the only place left to go is the estuary. The Dutch burned the fort, the Navy packed up and left, and the town has since made its living unloading other people's new cars. A mile offshore sits a wartime wreck packed with explosives that nobody has dared touch since the war, which is roughly the official approach to most things here. It gets the sunshine of a proper seaside resort and spends it looking at Essex.
