Hoo St Werburgh

Great Expectations country, modest expectations included·Kent·South East England

Hoo St Werburgh is a village that kept saying yes to one more estate and woke up as a small town with a Saxon saint's name and no railway station. Dickens used these marshes to frighten a small boy with an escaped convict. These days the fright is the morning queue to get off the peninsula. Buyers come for the marsh and the sky, then find the view they see most is the back of a car heading for Strood.
