Queenborough

A royal borough the sea never stopped eyeing up·Kent·South East England

Queenborough was named for a queen and guarded by the only truly concentric castle ever built in England, and nearly everyone put in charge of it since has let it down. The castle never saw a fight before Parliament pulled it down for being of no practical use, the mayor and his friends skimmed the oyster money, and Daniel Defoe dropped by to call it a miserable and dirty fishing town. The harbour is still here, the sea still treats the whole town as a standing invitation, and the place carries itself like somewhere that has outlived every insult anyone bothered to write down.
