What are the schools like in Queenborough?

For anyone buying or renting in Queenborough.

Kent's schools are good, and Queenborough gets to count itself in that. About nine in ten graded settings across the county are good or better. The town has its own primary within walking distance. Secondary school means a bus or a lift. The primary years are easy, and the secondary years involve a school run.

Ofsted has graded 245 schools and settings across Kent, and 221 of them are good or better, about nine in ten. Of those, 38 are rated outstanding and 183 good. At the other end, 21 require improvement and 3 are inadequate. These counts cover the whole local authority, not Queenborough on its own, so they describe the system a family here applies into, not the school at the end of the road. Another 255 settings have no published grade yet. They are not bad schools. They are uninspected ones, and they sit outside the figures above.

A school's name on a map is not a place in it. Admission follows the council's rules for each school, and a house near a school buys a better chance, not a seat. The time to check a school's own inspection report and its most recent allocation pattern is before the offer on the house, not after the offer letter from the council. Parents who skip that step often assume the nearest school is the one they'll get, and admissions usually corrects them.

The town's primary is Queenborough School and Nursery, and its own grade is on its Ofsted page, not in the county totals. On the Department for Transport's 2019 modelled journey times, the nearest primary is about an 11-minute walk, 9 minutes by public transport or 7 by car. Secondary is a different trip. The nearest secondary is about 45 minutes on foot, 24 minutes by public transport and 12 by car. Nobody is walking that twice a day in November, and the bus timetables have moved since 2019. So the secondary question in Queenborough is partly about schools and partly about transport. The town's school choice at eleven depends on the bus timetable as much as on inspection reports.

Schools are one of the things Queenborough does well. It sits in a county where good or better is the norm, and its only real complication is the drive to secondary school.

Check it for your address. Admission rules and inspection results change from year to year, so before counting on a place, read the latest reports on Ofsted and your council's admissions rules.
