Gerrards Cross
Gerrards Cross is a railway timetable that grew a town around itself, and it has been dressing for the occasion ever since. Before the station arrived it was heathland with a pond and a name nobody can quite explain, and now the village next door uses its postal address the way you'd borrow a good coat for an interview. Tesco wanted in badly enough to build over the railway cutting, and the roof fell onto the line. Getting into Gerrards Cross is hard, and even the supermarket needed two goes.
