Poyle

A village the warehouses haven't got round to evicting·Berkshire·South East England

Poyle is a village that lost a fight with a motorway and was then passed between three counties like a parcel nobody would sign for. The M25 cut it off from its own borough, and the railway that once gave it two halts was dug up to make room for that same motorway, which is roughly what happens to a place whose main export is lorries. It sits wedged between Heathrow and the warehouses, with the houses fitted in wherever the sheds left a gap. Everyone who lives here can be on a plane faster than most of Berkshire can find its car keys.
