Windsor, Berkshire
Windsor is a perfectly normal Berkshire town with a thousand-year-old castle parked in the middle, and the castle gets all the post. It has two railway stations because two Victorian train companies fought over who got to carry the Queen, which is about the most Windsor reason for anything. Shakespeare set a whole comedy here without bothering to visit, putting him a step behind the coach parties, who at least get off the bus. Living here means learning which streets the tourists never find, and keeping that list to yourself.
