Cookham

Rich enough to keep calling itself a village·Berkshire·South East England

Cookham is technically the rural tail end of the High Wycombe urban area, which is not something anyone in Cookham has ever said out loud. The village has spent centuries fighting off anyone who tried to fence in its commons, including a Victorian lady whose main aim was to stop the men at Odney swimming naked. The villagers won that one too. Odney now hosts John Lewis staff on subsidised breaks, and the postcode belongs to people who would prefer you didn't mention Maidenhead, which is where every train out of the village goes first.
