Fulham
Fulham is the part of London that estate agents insist on calling the Chelsea borders, as if the whole place were a waiting room with nicer shutters. The Danes rowed up the Thames and wintered here, then the Bishops of London kept a country house in the loop of the river for about a thousand years, so turning up from somewhere grander and refusing to leave is the oldest tradition going. The current wave arrives in gilets and calls it the village. The bishops at least had the decency to call it a palace.
