Earl's Court
Earl's Court is Kensington after someone went at the mansions with a stud wall, so a house built for one Victorian family now has eleven doorbells and a hallway that smells of other people's dinner. The exhibition centre that put the name on concert tickets shut years ago, but the one-way system the sixties built around it never got the message, and the traffic still circles as if the doors open at seven. People move here to be near Chelsea and stay because the Tube is right there and the lease has another year to run.
