West Kensington

Kensington on the envelope, Fulham on the bill·Greater London·London

West Kensington is a slice of Fulham that borrowed its posh neighbour's surname and has been hoping nobody checks the borough ever since. It used to be called North End, which was at least honest. Then the Talgarth Road was driven straight through the middle, so the Kensington half of the name does the selling while the A4 does the shouting. The North End Road kept the old name and the market stalls, and is the only part of the place that never pretended to be anywhere else.
