Chiswick
Chiswick started life as a cheese farm and has spent the thousand years since working out how to charge more for the cheese. In 1642 a royalist army marched up to Turnham Green, saw what it was up against and went home, which is roughly what first-time buyers still do after their first viewing. The Piccadilly line only stops at Turnham Green while sensible people are asleep, and the Boat Race finishes just downstream. Those who stay call all of it the village feel and pay accordingly.
