South Kensington
South Kensington was renamed by a railway company for public relations reasons, and the name has outlived one of its own tube stations. The Great Exhibition money bought it three museums, a concert hall and a tunnel so the crowds could reach the dinosaurs without ever touching Cromwell Road, which is still how most visitors experience the place. The shop where Tim Waterstone opened his first bookshop is now a Little Waitrose, the district's whole direction of travel in one window.
