Pimlico
Pimlico is Belgravia's white stucco with the entry fee knocked off, and the people who live here have long since stopped apologising for the difference. Thomas Cubitt built it on reclaimed marsh, raised it on soil dug out of St Katharine Docks, then laid out terraces so alike that a taxi driver can lap the same square twice and swear it was two different ones. From the pavement it all looks like old money; up close, most of those grand front doors have a panel of six buzzers beside them. You can walk to Parliament, the Tate and the river, then go home to a street where nothing happens after nine, and that is exactly what people here are paying for.
