Wembley Park
Humphry Repton landscaped Wembley Park because it was the most secluded spot he had seen that close to London, and it now hosts a national stadium, a concert arena and every England fan who has ever missed the last train home. Twice somebody started a grand tower on this ground and walked away from it half-built; the third attempt was to keep putting up blocks of flats until the skyline stopped arguing. It suits renters who want a new kitchen and a short Tube ride into town, as long as they check the stadium's fixture list before inviting anyone round on a Saturday.
