Hendon
Hendon gave aviation its first airmail delivery and its first night flights, then let the airfield wander off to become Colindale and kept the Brent Cross flyover instead. People describe it by what it's near: the Northern line, the shopping centre, and three main roads that meet in a knot the traffic reports know by name. Behind the noise are interwar streets, two big parks and so many flats that on a lot of roads the landlord has outlasted every tenant. Its list of notable residents includes a man known as Benji the Binman, and Hendon has never tried very hard to look grander than that.
