North Finchley

A suburb that grew up waiting for the bus·Greater London·London

North Finchley is built around Tally Ho Corner, named after a coaching company that local historians suspect never existed, which gives it a made-up origin story and a very real traffic problem. Four roads meet there, and most of the borough's buses appear to have been told to use all of them at once. Neither of the two Tube stations that serve the place bothered to take its name. The people who buy here for the space and the schools forgive that, mostly because the bus drops them at the door anyway.
