Southgate, London
Southgate started life as the side entrance to the King's hunting forest. Then the Piccadilly line turned up in the 1930s, and within a decade the deer had been replaced by big semis on every hill. The station is a listed round building that looks like a flying saucer that landed, saw the driveways and never left. The hunting never stopped, either: it just moved on to school places and a drive wide enough for two cars.
