High Barnet
High Barnet is the end of the Northern line and acts like it. It's a Hertfordshire market town that London took over in 1965, and it has spent the decades since pretending it didn't notice. The church at the top of the hill claims to be the highest point between itself and the Ural Mountains, which is a brave thing to say with most of Europe in the way. The town gave its name to the rhyming slang for hair and to the battle that killed the Kingmaker, and these days the hardest fight in town is the walk from the Tube up Barnet Hill.
