Welwyn Garden City
Welwyn Garden City was laid out in 1920 as "The Perfect Town", and a century later it is still trying very hard not to let anyone down. Every road has its grass verge, the town centre is neo-Georgian on purpose, and a Scheme of Management has opinions about your front door before you do. The founders wanted the whole town to shop in one shop. People resented it, and the shop eventually became a John Lewis, which is about as close to a revolution as this town gets.
