Orpington

Orpington is technically London, in the way a passport photo is technically you. It was hop fields and orchards until the railway turned up, and the town has been catching the same train into town ever since. The semis are solid, the gardens are long, and the grammar school entrance exam gets more revision than most degrees. People move here for the space and the schools, then spend every other Saturday driving to Bromley for the shops they swore they wouldn't miss.
