Sidcup
Sidcup sounds like a trophy handed out at a pub darts league, and the place has spent a hundred years living up to it with a straight face. It was Foots Cray until 1921, traded up to the better name, then got folded into London in 1965 without anyone asking the people still writing Kent on their envelopes. The station went in a mile from the high street, and the town has been walking that mile in the rain ever since. Rose Bruford College trains actors in an old manor house here, and every one of them still has to catch that train to find an audience.
