Barnehurst
Barnehurst is named after its railway station, which was named after the railway company's vice-chairman, so the place began life as a sales brochure with a ticket office attached. The station came first, the builders followed with streets of interwar semis, and nobody has seen much reason to change the plan since. The Red Barn by the station once kept British jazz alive after the war. Barnehurst took the hint and has kept the volume down ever since.
