Blackfen

The suburb your parents meant by nice·Greater London·London

Blackfen sounds like the marsh where the hero of a fantasy trilogy loses a horse, and turns out to be a long run of interwar semis between Sidcup and Welling, each with its hedge trimmed to regulation height. It was folded into London in 1965, which plenty of the people living here still treat as a clerical error. There is no station of its own, so every commute starts with a bus to somebody else's. The people who chose Blackfen for the driveway think that is a fair price.
