Eynsford

A Roman commuter village, now with worse plumbing·Kent·South East England

Eynsford is the Kent village people describe at London dinner parties right before announcing they're moving, and the asking prices have clearly been listening. It has a ruined castle, a medieval bridge, a ford that drivers splash through for the photograph and a Roman villa down the lane at Lullingstone, all handily placed for the train to Blackfriars. The Romans got here first and built themselves a country retreat within reach of the city; two thousand years later the commuters are doing the same, with worse plumbing and a season ticket.
