What are the schools like in Eynsford?

For anyone buying or renting in Eynsford.

Eynsford's schools are one of its real strengths. About nine in ten graded schools across the county are good or better. The one state primary around here posts solid maths results. Two Church of England primaries in neighbouring villages give parents more choice. For a village this small, it is a better school list than you would expect.

There is one mainstream state primary in the area, and its average Key Stage 2 maths score is 102. With a single school in the figure, that is one school's result and should be read as a single snapshot. Nearby primaries include The Anthony Roper Primary School, Horton Kirby Church of England Primary School and Sutton-At-Hone Church of England Primary School, all within reach of a short drive across the valley. Families here pick from a handful of small village schools, which makes the choice more personal and less like an exam.

Kent County Council's area has 245 schools and settings with a published Ofsted grade, and 221 of them are rated good or better, which is about nine in ten. Of those, 38 are outstanding. At the other end, 21 require improvement and 3 are inadequate. Another 255 settings have not yet received a grade at all, and they are left out of those counts entirely. The county stretches from the Thames estuary to the Weald, so its average says little about any single classroom in this valley.

Places at all of these schools are allocated under Kent County Council's published admissions rules, and church schools can add faith criteria of their own. Living close to a named school, or buying the cottage next to its gate, does not secure your child a place there, however close it looks on a map. Read each school's admissions policy, and check how places were offered in recent years, while you are still choosing a house. Village schools take small year groups, so one crowded year is enough to change who gets in.

For a village with one state primary of its own, Eynsford gives families very good schools, and few parents here will have reason to complain.

Check it for your address. Admission rules and inspection results change from year to year, so before counting on a place, read the latest reports on Ofsted and your council's admissions rules.
