Harrietsham
Harrietsham is a Saxon church and a Grade I farmhouse on the slope of the North Downs, with the M20, High Speed 1 and the A20 all threaded through the parish as if everyone in the South East needed to get past it in a hurry. The big Marley works on the eastern edge means nobody can sell it as a chocolate-box hideaway, which saves a lot of disappointment. People buy for the chalk hills and the quiet, then learn the quiet comes with a motorway hum they stop hearing around the second year and never quite forgive.
