Godstone
Godstone is a proper Surrey village of green, pond and coaching inns, bolted onto junction 6 of the M25 like a thatched porch on a motorway. It runs the traffic control centre for the southern M25 and keeps its railway station a couple of miles away in South Godstone, which tells you which one the locals were expected to use. The village spent the 1800s quarrying stone out of its own ground, and in 2025 sinkholes opened in the High Street. The estate agent's photos of the duck pond are unlikely to mention it.
