Findon

Worthing's quieter uphill neighbour, with racehorses·West Sussex·South East England

Findon is a downland village that has spent a few thousand years watching Worthing creep up the valley towards it and has never once walked down to say hello. Neolithic miners dug flint out of Cissbury Ring, racehorse trainers moved in later, and the annual sheep fair still counts as the social event of the calendar, which tells you what the rest of the calendar looks like. Everyone here picked the hill over the seafront on purpose, and they will tell you so unprompted. The A24 at the bottom of the village is the bill for that choice, and it comes in tyre noise.
