Arundel

Where the aristocracy still commutes to Waitrose.·West Sussex·South East England

Arundel is a town under a castle, watched by a Duke, and largely undecided on whether the twenty-first century applies. The A27 still runs through the middle because forty-five years of arguing about a bypass produced forty-five years of arguing about a bypass. The streets are Grade II listed down to the door handles, which is either romantic or expensive depending on whether you are the one asking for permission. It sells the postcard for a living, and the Duke keeps the receipts.
