St Luke's, London
St Luke's has no formal boundaries, which suits a place most people cross between Old Street and a City desk without noticing they've been anywhere. Its lunatic asylum became a Bank of England works printing banknotes, and its parish church was shut as unsafe and handed to the London Symphony Orchestra, so the area has spent its history turning madness into money and God into a rehearsal room. Whitecross Street Market was once known as Squalors' Market. It now sells street food to lanyards at lunchtime, and nobody has had the nerve to bring the old name back.
