Shoreditch
Shoreditch had England's first playhouse, and Shakespeare's company later took it apart and carted the timbers off to Southwark, which is still the usual career path for anything that gets popular here. The name has travelled further than the actors did. Cafes half a mile into Bethnal Green and Spitalfields put it on the sign, because Shoreditch sells a flat white better than their own postcode does. The nursery rhyme has the bells of Shoreditch saying "when I grow rich", and the rents round here suggest somebody did.
