Clerkenwell
Clerkenwell is named after a well that now survives behind a window in a 1980s office block, which is more or less what happened to everything else here. The monks went, the watchmakers went, and their workshops became lofts for agencies that charge by the day for opinions about fonts. It still looks like a place that makes things. Mostly it makes invoices.
