Bethnal Green
Bethnal Green is named after a green that now survives as a strip of gardens beside a main road, which is about as much countryside as the East End ever meant to keep. The council towers got listed, and Cambridge Heath station was picked to trial paying with your face because hardly anyone used it. The Libertines once played gigs in a flat on Teesdale Street, and the people now paying silly money for flats like that one would ring the council about the noise.
