Prestbury, Gloucestershire

Prestbury had a bishop's market and its own mineral spring long before Cheltenham took all the attention. So it did the sensible thing and became the bit of Cheltenham that doesn't have to put up with Cheltenham. The spring gave up before its century did. These days the village claims to be the most haunted in England, which is a very Prestbury claim to fame: the only residents expected to make any noise after ten o'clock have been dead for centuries.
