Brockworth

Where the jet age landed and parked·Gloucestershire·South West England

Britain's first jet took off from a runway in Brockworth, and the runway is now a business park, which is roughly the arc of the whole place. People buy here when Cheltenham's prices are a fantasy and Gloucester is more city than they bargained for, then spend their lives on the bypass between the two. Once a year strangers hurl themselves down Cooper's Hill after a cheese, and for the other three hundred and sixty-four days the steepest descent anyone attempts is the slip road onto the A417.
