Plaistow, Newham
Plaistow still can't agree on how to say its own name, and the people saying it wrong are usually the ones who've just bought there. Legend has Dick Turpin starting out here by stealing his employer's oxen, making him the first man to spot Plaistow's potential and leave quickly with it. The Greenway, the cycle path to Stratford, runs along the top of a Victorian sewer, and the name does its best to keep that from you. The place suits anyone who wants Stratford's trains without Stratford's prices and is happy to say Plaistow however the neighbours say it.
