Manor Park, London
Manor Park is the Elizabeth line stop that commuters sleep through on their way to somewhere with a sourdough queue, and it has made its peace with that. The Durham Road streets now answer to Manor Park Village, a gentle rebrand for land that once housed a works boiling dead horses into charcoal for the sugar refiners. Wanstead is a stroll to the north and prices the stroll accordingly, which leaves Manor Park with the same trains to Liverpool Street and Heathrow and a fraction of the swagger. The best-behaved neighbours are in the cemeteries, and they have never once objected to a loft conversion.
