Odiham
Odiham once had a royal castle with a Scottish king kept in it like a lodger nobody could evict, and it has spent every century since refusing to make a fuss about it. The castle has been a ruin since 1605, and nobody has felt the need to tidy up. The veterinary profession in Britain started with a society founded at The George, which tells you this village has always cared more about the horses than the commute. The trains stop at Hook, and Odiham seems perfectly happy to keep it that way.
