Fleet, Hampshire

Most of Britain knows Fleet as a motorway services on the M3, which undersells a town founded, more or less, by retired army officers who came down from London to skate on a pond and never went home. The officers'-mess energy stuck: tidy drives and a shared suspicion of anything louder than a leaf blower. Fleet sits between Farnborough and Aldershot paying extra for the quiet, and it would like the receipt framed.
