Yateley
Yateley's name means the gate into Windsor Forest, and a gate is something people go through without stopping. The railway never came, so the town shrugged and bought a second car. Instead of a station it grew acres of post-war semis and a secondary school big enough to need its own postcode. Flora Thompson once worked behind the post office counter here, then went off to write about Candleford, which is still the most honest review the place has had.
