Arborfield Garrison
Arborfield Garrison spent a century breaking in horses, then army engineers, and has now been handed to the housebuilders, who are breaking in commuters. The army left in 2015 and took with it the only reason anyone ever gave directions here. What replaced it is a village grown from a planning permission instead of a pub, which is why it got a secondary school before it got a single local legend. The old infirmary stables are the longest-serving residents, and the only ones who didn't pick their kitchen from a brochure.
