Lelant

St Ives with the volume off, deliberately·Cornwall·South West England

Lelant is what St Ives looks like when it has calmed down and gone to bed. The estuary does the heavy work here, a wide slab of tidal sand that turns from silver to mud twice a day while the golf course pretends not to notice, and half the village sits at the window watching it like a fire. St Uny's churchyard has more standing crosses than the village has reasons to raise its voice. Nobody comes to Lelant for the nightlife, which is the entire point, and the people who find that out too late were never going to last a winter anyway.
