Marazion

A town with a better view of itself·Cornwall·South West England

Marazion has spent nine hundred years as the bit of the view you stand in while photographing something else. The castle on the island gets the postcard, the causeway gets the tourists, and the town gets to sell them a watercolour of the thing they just walked back from. There are worse business models, and the place has been running this one since it was a Thursday market with delusions, right through to a brief and embarrassing attempt at becoming a city. It knows exactly what it is now, which is more than most of Cornwall can say.
