Glastonbury
Glastonbury is a town where you can buy a crystal that realigns your chakras but struggle to buy a screwdriver after four in the afternoon. The Tor is genuinely magnificent, the abbey ruins are genuinely ancient, and the high street is genuinely full of people who moved here in 1987 to escape something and never quite said what. The festival that made the name famous happens seven miles away in a different village, which locals will explain to you with the weary patience of a man correcting the same typo for thirty years. It is a place that takes itself extremely seriously and is, against all reasonable expectation, mostly right to.
